Overview
- RECOVER study surveyed caregivers of 472 infants/toddlers and 539 preschoolers to document symptoms persisting beyond 90 days after COVID-19
- Among children with confirmed infections, 14% of infants and toddlers and 15% of preschoolers were classified as likely having long COVID
- Infants and toddlers most commonly displayed sleep disturbances, fussiness, poor appetite, nasal congestion and cough
- Preschool-aged children predominantly reported a dry cough accompanied by daytime fatigue or low energy
- Researchers caution that caregiver-reported survey data may be affected by recall bias and stress the need for screening approaches tailored to each developmental stage
