Overview

  • A five-month-old puppy named Rocky barked at about 1 am on June 30, prompting a door-to-door alert that allowed 67 residents from around 20 families in Siyathi village to flee before a landslide struck.
  • The monsoon-triggered landslide flattened nearly a dozen homes, leaving only four or five structures visible under the debris.
  • Since early July, displaced families have been housed at the Naina Devi temple in nearby Triyambala village and each received ₹10,000 in immediate relief from the Himachal Pradesh government.
  • National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force teams continue to comb flood-affected areas of Mandi district for those still missing.
  • The India Meteorological Department has maintained orange and yellow heavy-rain alerts across multiple Himachal districts as persistent cloudbursts and flash floods threaten further instability.
