Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Sets Second January Closure as Cold Snap Persists

Overview

• Disney updated its calendar to close Typhoon Lagoon January 18–20 after a brief January 17 reopening, with operations slated to resume January 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The park has already been shut January 12–16 due to freeze and frost warnings that make outdoor water attractions unsafe.
• With Blizzard Beach closed for seasonal refurbishment, guests with water-park tickets have no on-site alternative during these shutdowns.
• Blizzard Beach is scheduled to reopen February 15, at which point Typhoon Lagoon will begin a planned refurbishment that includes rebuilding the Humunga Kowabunga slide, according to permits.
• Typhoon Lagoon will remain offline through late spring, with both water parks set to operate May 26–September 8 and resort guests receiving complimentary arrival-day admission during that window.
