The high cost of the experience, starting at nearly $5,000 per couple for a two-night stay, and the role-playing element may have deterred potential guests, leading to the hotel's closure.
The Galactic Starcruiser represented an investment of hundreds of millions, possibly close to $1 billion, for Disney.
Disney considered retheming and modifying the Galactic Starcruiser but ultimately decided to close it permanently.
Plans for additional Galactic Starcruiser hotels at Disney resorts worldwide were considered but never announced following the announcement of the first hotel's closure.
