Disney’s Hollywood Studios Sets 2026 Overhaul With Muppets Coaster and New Animation Hub
Near-term closures set the stage for the 2026 openings, including the end of Disney Jr. on September 25.
Overview
- Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will permanently close in 2026 to reopen as Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, with the ride system retained and the story, visuals, and soundtrack rebuilt.
- The Animation Courtyard and Star Wars: Launch Bay will be reimagined as The Magic of Disney Animation within a new area called The Walt Disney Studios, opening in 2026 with interactive animation experiences.
- Disney highlights features for the new hub such as living portraits, animation classes, a Drawn to Wonderland playground, and the return of the Sorcerer Hat icon atop the area.
- Disney Jr. Play and Dance! is set to permanently close on September 25, 2025, while The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure will remain in the courtyard.
- Muppets Courtyard closed earlier this summer and is now behind construction walls, with the characters shifting focus to the rethemed coaster on Sunset Boulevard.
