Disney World Sets 2026 Overhaul With DINOSAUR’s Feb. 2 Closure and Muppets Takeover of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster

The confirmed dates signal a broader construction push that will reshape rides and operations across the resort through next year.

Overview

  • DINOSAUR will offer final rides on February 1, 2026, before permanently closing on February 2 as part of Animal Kingdom’s Tropical Americas transformation.
  • Restaurantosaurus, the Dino Institute Shop, and Restaurantosaurus Lounge will also close permanently on February 2, 2026, with Disney yet to specify the status of Trilo-Bites.
  • Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close in 2026 and reopen later that year as Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
  • Big Thunder Mountain is scheduled to return in 2026 with technical upgrades and a new Rainbow Caverns sequence, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will reopen with new ride vehicles, upgraded blasters, and a scene featuring Buddy.
  • The Disney Skyliner is scheduled to be down January 25–31, 2026, and Moderate resort room categories are being simplified to Standard, Preferred, or King-bed rooms.
