• On August 6 the Walt Disney World monorail experienced a mechanical failure mid-route that brought service to a sudden halt
• Passengers were instructed over the loudspeaker to report headcounts before being told a tow truck was en route and that firefighters might need to evacuate them
• A TikTok video of the incident went viral and reignited concerns about safety and reliability of the Mark VI trains introduced in the late 1980s
• Disney has not confirmed whether the tow truck succeeded in moving the train or if Orange County or Reedy Creek fire crews conducted a full evacuation
• A similar flat-tire breakdown in October 2023 required fire department evacuations, temporary line closures and resulted in guest compensation under Disney’s care policies
