Overview
- Jeff Vahle said Disney has broken ground on Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom, and Villains- and Cars-themed areas at Magic Kingdom, with Disney Lakeshore Lodge construction progressing.
- Muppet*Vision 3D closed in June 2025 and the Muppet Courtyard has been demolished for a Monsters, Inc.–themed land, which reporting suggests is targeted for around 2028 without an official date.
- DinoLand U.S.A. is being replaced by Tropical Americas, with DINOSAUR slated to close in February 2026 and the new land planned to feature Indiana Jones and Encanto areas, currently slated for a 2027 opening.
- Vahle framed the changes as reinvestment in 'underutilized areas' and said the company was thoughtful about retirements, a stance that has fueled debate among longtime guests about the parks’ identity.
- Disney also flagged near-term updates: Zootopia: Better Zoogether opens in the Tree of Life Theater in November 2025, Buzz Lightyear and Big Thunder Mountain return with new scenes in 2026, and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is set for a Muppets-based retheme.
