Disney World Chefs Deliver 1,000 Thanksgiving Meals to Central Florida Shelters

The effort extends a 25-year partnership with local shelters rooted in Disney's VoluntEARS program.

Overview

  • On Nov. 25, Disney chefs and cast members prepared and delivered the meals at the Coalition for the Homeless headquarters in Orlando.
  • The distribution supported individuals and families served by the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida as well as Harbor House of Central Florida.
  • Roughly 15 chefs spent about 30 hours on preparation and packaging, supported by Disney VoluntEARS and ambassadors Sharon Smith-Conrad and Kylee Withers.
  • The menu scaled to 400 pounds of roasted turkey, 220 pounds of mashed potatoes, 25 gallons of gravy, 50 gallons of cranberry sauce, 100 pounds of green beans, and 140 pies.
  • Disney reports more than 25 years of Thanksgiving service with the Coalition, over 25,000 cumulative meals provided, and 132,000 cast volunteer hours logged this year.
