Disney+ to Add Vertical, Swipeable Video Feed in U.S. Later This Year

The mobile-first feed is designed to make Disney+ a daily habit for younger viewers.

Overview

  • Disney announced the move at its CES Tech & Data Showcase, targeting a U.S. launch later in 2026 ahead of the combined Disney+-Hulu app experience.
  • The new experience will deliver personalized short-form vertical clips optimized for swipeable viewing on mobile, building on lessons from ESPN’s Verts.
  • EVP of product Erin Teague said "everything’s on the table," including original shorts, reformatted scenes from long-form titles, and select social content.
  • To monetize the format, Disney introduced a video-generation tool for advertisers that is already in internal use and will enter beta with select clients in the coming months, alongside an AI planning tool.
  • Disney Advertising also unveiled a Compass brand portal connected to partners such as Affinity Solutions, CINT, EDO, Innovid and VideoAmp, plus a unified Brand Impact Metric covering attention, reach, brand health and search.
