• Disney+ officially announced on Sept. 17 that a single The Muppet Show special will premiere in 2026.
• Sabrina Carpenter will appear as the featured guest and will also serve as an executive producer.
• Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the ensemble return to the Muppet Theatre for a new variety-show installment.
• Albertina Rizzo writes and executive produces with Alex Timbers directing and executive producing, alongside executive producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee; 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey are producing.
• Veteran performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel will handle most characters, and trade reports say the special could double as a backdoor pilot, with a California tax credit granted to a project labeled a “Muppets pilot.”
