Disney Schedules Typhoon Lagoon Jan. 18–20 Closure as Humunga Kowabunga Shuts Down Jan. 20

Guests have no water-park alternative because Blizzard Beach remains in refurbishment.

Overview

  • Walt Disney World updated its site showing Typhoon Lagoon will reopen for one day on January 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., then close January 18–20 with a planned January 21 reopening.
  • Disney confirmed the Humunga Kowabunga speed slide will be unavailable starting January 20, weeks ahead of the park’s broader seasonal refurbishment on February 15.
  • An Orange County Notice of Commencement lists ProSlide Technology for Humunga Kowabunga with the scope described as “general construction.”
  • Earlier this month, Judge Brian Sandor dismissed the Emma and Edward McGuinness lawsuit over alleged “wedgie” injuries, with the complaint voluntarily dismissed with prejudice.
  • Typhoon Lagoon has already been shut January 12–16 for freezing temperatures and frost warnings, and both Disney water parks are scheduled to operate together May 26–September 8, 2026.
