Disney Posts Overnight Fireworks-Testing Notice for EPCOT

The late-night testing window could disturb guests at nearby deluxe resorts and signals operations running well past EPCOT’s usual show time.

Overview

  • Walt Disney World posted a Fireworks Notification in the lobby of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort on Monday warning of routine fireworks testing to originate at EPCOT between 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1 and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 2.
  • The notice says guests may hear “sporadic fireworks” during the three-and-a-half-hour window but does not say the launches will be continuous.
  • Guests at Disney’s Yacht Club, Beach Club and BoardWalk Inn are the most likely to hear the tests because those hotels sit closest to EPCOT around Crescent Lake, and the Swan and Dolphin could also be affected.
  • The testing window extends several hours past EPCOT’s normal nighttime presentation, Luminous: The Symphony of Us, which typically runs around 9 p.m., and reporters note the tests may be related to that show though Disney has not confirmed specifics.
  • With no technical details or launch frequency provided, guests are advised to plan for potential late-night noise, families and early-park visitors face the biggest disruption, and further notices could follow if Disney expands testing or provides new details.
