Overview
- Disney+ officially ordered the new Darkwing Duck series on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, announcing the cast and creative team in a studio press release.
- Mark Hamill will voice Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck and Seth Rogen will both voice Launchpad McQuack and executive produce the show through Point Grey Pictures.
- The series’ official logline says Darkwing has been trapped for 35 years in an alternate world and is pulled back into action by a rebellious teen named Duckie to face villains like Negaduck and Megavolt.
- The order names Sean Tretta and Borja Peña Gorostegui as writers and executive producers, credits original creator Tad Stones as a consultant, and lists a wider voice ensemble including Lizzy Caplan and Dan Stevens.
- The project has been in development since 2020 and the announcement confirms Jim Cummings, the original Darkwing voice, was recast; Disney has not yet set a release date so production timeline and fan reception remain the next items to watch.
