Disney Licenses 14 Shows to Netflix in New Deal, 'Grey’s Anatomy' to Stream on Disney+
The agreement allows Netflix to stream popular Disney-owned series while 'Grey’s Anatomy' will be available on Disney’s new one-app experience starting March 2024.
- Disney and Netflix have entered into a short-term domestic content agreement, under which Disney will license 14 TV shows to Netflix on a non-exclusive basis for 18 months. The shows include 'Lost', 'This Is Us', 'Prison Break', 'Archer', 'How I Met Your Mother', 'White Collar', 'Home Improvement', 'The Resident', 'ESPN 30 for 30', 'My Wife and Kids', 'Reba', 'The Bernie Mac Show', 'The Hughleys', and 'The Wonder Years'.
- The entirety of the 'Grey’s Anatomy' library will be available on Disney’s new one-app experience, which combines Hulu and Disney+, starting in March 2024. Hulu and Netflix will share the co-exclusive U.S. streaming rights to all prior 19 seasons of 'Grey’s Anatomy'.
- New episodes of 'Grey’s Anatomy' Season 20 will premiere on Hulu the day after their ABC launch, making Hulu the only streamer to carry both the show’s full library as well as new in-season episodes.
- The Disney-owned titles coming to Netflix will continue to be available on the Disney platform they are currently on (Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+) as well as other third-parties, SVOD, AVOD or linear that they have been licensed to.
- The deal licensing Disney Entertainment IP to Netflix marks a strategic move for the entertainment giant to expand viewership for certain series, including 'Prison Break', which aims to promote news of the spin-off series currently in development at Hulu.
