Disney Files Set-Installation Permit as Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Shifts to Muppets Theme

A new construction permit marks the start of on-site set work during a phased retheme that keeps the ride open into early March before a summer 2026 relaunch.

Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit to “install set elements” at the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster building, naming Mecca Productions as contractor and signaling work focused largely on the pre-show area.
The pre-show is now boarded up and Aerosmith visuals and related merchandise have been removed, though guests still ride to Aerosmith tracks for the time being.
Disney says the new storyline features Scooter and penguin audio engineers trying to get Electric Mayhem to a concert, with J.P. Grosse taking over G‑Force Records.
Plans include multiple new Audio‑Animatronics, a refreshed guitar facade with a piano motif, and what Disney describes as a first‑of‑its‑kind Muppet figure.
The Aerosmith version is expected to operate only until early March 2026, with reports citing March 1 or March 2, and Disney targets a summer 2026 debut for the retheme.
