Overview

  • On August 8, Disney Cruise Line held a steel-cutting ceremony at Meyer Werft in Germany to begin building its fourth unnamed Wish-class vessel.
  • A day later, the Disney Destiny completed its float-out from the Meyer Werft shipyard, moving toward its November 20 maiden voyage from Port Everglades.
  • Each Wish-class ship spans about 144,000 gross tons, carries roughly 4,000 guests and is powered by liquefied natural gas to lower emissions.
  • The Disney Destiny debuts a Marvel “Heroes and Villains” design, featuring a Doctor Strange Sanctum Lounge, a Black Panther–inspired Grand Hall and a new Hercules stage show.
  • These ceremonies advance a multi-year expansion that includes a Singapore-homeported Global class ship this winter and a Japan-based Wish-class vessel in partnership with Oriental Land Co. in 2029.
