Disney Converts Shuttered Star Wars Hotel into Imagineering Offices

The Galactic Starcruiser, closed after just 18 months, will now serve as a creative hub for future Disney World projects.

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive Disney hotel experience, opened in March 2022 and closed in September 2023 due to high costs and low bookings.
The building will now house Walt Disney Imagineering offices, supporting projects like new attractions for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.
Initial plans to repurpose the hotel for guest-accessible experiences, such as dinner theater events, were abandoned due to logistical challenges and location constraints.
The Galactic Starcruiser was praised for its innovative design but criticized for its steep price, with stays costing up to $6,000 for a family of four.
Disney’s decision to convert the space follows a tax writedown on the project, effectively ending hopes for a revival of the Star Wars-themed experience.
