Overview
- Disney outlined the rules on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, saying eligible guests with qualifying Disney Resort packages or most room-only bookings can cancel or reschedule without Disney change or cancellation fees if a hurricane warning covers Orlando within seven days of arrival.
- The seven-day trigger also applies if a guest’s place of residence is under a hurricane warning, which can let travelers who face local storm threats move or cancel without a Disney-imposed fee.
- Payments already made to Disney for rooms, park tickets and other Disney products can be applied to a rebooked reservation, but guests may lose the promotional rate tied to the original booking and must pay any higher price for new dates.
- Disney does not guarantee full theme-park ticket refunds for weather closures; partially used multi-day tickets may get limited extensions, unused tickets may receive a new start date, and separately ticketed events are decided case-by-case with past precedent for full refunds when an entire party was canceled in 2024.
- The policy applies only to reservations booked directly with Disney and excludes some special events and group stays, so guests must contact airlines, rental companies and travel agents separately, and NOAA’s Aug. 6, 2026 outlook lowered the season’s overall odds to below-normal even as forecasters warn single storms can still disrupt trips.
