Disney+ Announces Cast for Series on Jean Charles de Menezes Shooting

The four-part drama will explore the tragic 2005 killing of an innocent Brazilian man mistaken for a terrorist by London police.

The series, titled 'Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes,' is written and executive produced by Jeff Pope and will premiere on Disney+ in spring 2025.
Newcomer Edison Alcaide will portray Jean Charles de Menezes, while Emily Mortimer, Conleth Hill, and Russell Tovey are among the ensemble cast playing key figures in the Metropolitan Police.
The drama examines the events leading to de Menezes' death, including critical surveillance failures during a police operation following the 7/7 London bombings.
Jean Charles de Menezes’ family members are serving as consultants for the series to ensure an accurate portrayal of the tragedy.
The series coincides with the 20th anniversary of the 7/7 bombings and joins a slate of recent documentaries revisiting the attacks and their aftermath.
