Disney+ and Hulu Renew Australian Drama The Artful Dodger' for Season 2

The period crime dramedy inspired by Dickens’ 'Oliver Twist' will begin filming its second season in Sydney in 2025 with the original cast returning.

Disney+ and Hulu have officially renewed 'The Artful Dodger' for an eight-episode second season, set to film in 2025 at Callan Park in Sydney, Australia.
The show, based on Charles Dickens’ 'Oliver Twist,' follows Jack Dawkins, a former pickpocket-turned-surgeon, and features a blend of crime, romance, and comedy in a 19th-century colonial setting.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster, David Thewlis, and Maia Mitchell will reprise their roles as Dodger, Fagin, and Lady Belle, respectively, continuing the story of love, heists, and personal conflict.
The series, Disney+’s first Australian-made drama to receive a second season, has been a global success, particularly in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the U.S.
Co-creator James McNamara highlighted the passionate fan base, including petitions, fan fiction, and viral TikTok content, as key factors in the show’s renewal.
