Overview
- Disney Cruise Line confirmed the ship completed its Panama Canal passage on February 2, entering the locks at 7:30 a.m. EST and exiting around 8:00 p.m.
- At 208,000 gross tons and 342 meters (1,122 feet), it became the first cruise ship over 200,000 gross tons to navigate the canal.
- The previous cruise-ship size record for a canal transit was held by Norwegian Bliss at about 168,000 gross tons and 333 meters (1,093 feet).
- The crossing is part of a repositioning from a German shipyard to a Singapore homeport, following earlier stops at Port Canaveral for crew training and Curaçao for fueling and provisions.
- Disney Signature Experiences president Joe Schott shared a time-lapse of the transit and credited coordination with Panama Canal teams for the milestone.
