Dismissed RPF Constable Arrested for Posing as Officer at Raja Raghuvanshi’s Indore Home

Charges under Sections 204 and 205 have been filed against the impostor as investigators seek to determine his motive with the probe also examining potential ties to the Raghuvanshi murder case.

Overview

  • The man, identified as Bajranglal Jat, arrived at the Raghuvanshi residence on August 14 in a khaki uniform claiming to be a railway/GRP officer and an old friend of Raja Raghuvanshi.
  • Family members grew suspicious when he failed to present official identification and his claim of meeting Raja at Ujjain’s Mahakal Temple during the 2021 lockdown was exposed as false.
  • Police verification confirmed Jat was a dismissed RPF constable who had been terminated several years earlier and had a history of roaming in uniform.
  • Investigators seized his three-star khaki uniform, RPF badge and regulation red shoes after detaining him at the family home.
  • An FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 204 (personating a public servant) and 205 (wearing garb of a public servant with fraudulent intent) has been registered and questioning is underway.
