Overview
- Discord announced the rollout on Tuesday and said it will create public Server Web Pages for all Discoverable Servers starting on November 16, 2026, with selected channel messages beginning to appear in mid-December 2026.
- The change applies only to Discoverable Servers, which Discord defines as public communities with at least 1,000 members that meet activity and safety rules, and it will not affect private servers, direct messages, or group DMs.
- Server administrators can opt out channels or disable web presence now through Server Settings > Web Presence, and individual users can block their messages from appearing via User Settings > Data & Privacy > Channel Messages.
- Messages sent before the mid-December indexing window will not be included, usernames and avatars will not be shown next to indexed messages, and messages posted while a user’s setting is enabled will remain visible online unless the user deletes them.
- The company says the goal is to restore forum-like searchability for community knowledge, but users and commentators are warning about loss of context, the risk of automated scraping, and the possibility that publicly indexed messages could be reused to train AI models.
