Overview
- Discord announced Nov. 3 that physical and digital gift cards are now on sale in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain through retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, Target, GameStop, Micromania, Gamelife and GAME.
- Redeemed gift card balances are added to a user’s Discord account and can be spent on Nitro subscriptions, items from the Discord Shop, server boosts and in-game purchases or used to send Nitro or Shop items to another user.
- Cards are region-restricted: a card only redeems on accounts set to the same country or region as the card and cards purchased in France, Italy or Spain are euro-denominated and work in euro-using countries.
- Redemption requires scanning the QR code or visiting discord.com/redeem while signed into the target account, balances cannot be transferred once redeemed and spending is currently limited to the Discord desktop app and web browser.
- Discord urges buying only from official retailers and guarding codes against scams, and it says this is the first wave of gift cards with plans to expand availability to more countries in 2027.
