Directorate of Estates Evicts Udit Raj From Delhi Bungalow Ahead of Court Date

Officials cite an August eviction order alongside dues of about ₹21.45 lakh.

Overview

  • On October 24, estate and CPWD staff cleared the Pandara Park residence and removed belongings, and Udit Raj later staged a sit-in outside.
  • The bungalow was allotted to his wife, retired IRS officer Seema Raj, who retired on November 30, 2023, was entitled to retain it until May 31, 2025, and says she paid the licence fee for that period.
  • Seema Raj sought additional time citing her father's prolonged illness and recent death and says she asked to vacate by late November.
  • According to ministry sources, the DoE issued a show-cause notice on June 16, held a hearing on June 23, passed an eviction order on August 5, and served it on August 11.
  • The couple has appealed with a Patiala House Court hearing listed for October 28, they allege the timing denied immediate legal remedy and political and caste bias, and there was no immediate official response.
