Direct Energy Regulated Services Announces Lower October Rates for Electricity and Natural Gas

The new rates reflect a significant decrease in energy costs for both electricity and natural gas customers in Alberta.

Direct Energy Regulated Services (DERS) has announced default electric and natural gas rates for October 2024.
The Regulated Rate Option for electricity is approximately 9% lower than last month's rate, though typical residential bills will see a slight increase of $1.98 or 1%.
Natural gas rates for October have decreased significantly for both the ATCO Gas North and South service territories, dropping from $0.848 per GJ to $0.627 per GJ.
A typical residential gas bill for October will be approximately $138 in the North and $117 in the South, based on an average consumption of 9 GJ.
The rate adjustments have been verified and approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission, ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance.
