Dioceses in Spain and Argentina Set Sunday Rites to Close the Jubilee Year

The Vatican will formally conclude the Holy Year when St. Peter's Holy Door is closed on January 6.

  • In Spain, Málaga Cathedral will shut its Holy Door at 6 p.m., with Bishop José Antonio Satué presiding, and Valladolid will hold a 6 p.m. jubilar Mass led by Archbishop Luis Argüello.
  • In Jujuy, Argentina, the Santuario de Río Blanco will host a “Jubileo de los Pesebres,” with a 10 a.m. gathering and an 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Bishop Daniel Fernández after pilgrims pass through the Holy Door; the sanctuary has replaced the cathedral during repairs.
  • In Catamarca, the diocesan closing takes place at 8 a.m. in the Cathedral Basilica, presided by Bishop Luis Urbanc, with donations of non-perishable food invited and the liturgy livestreamed for those unable to attend.
  • In Santiago del Estero, a 8:30 p.m. cathedral Mass will mark the local conclusion, with Vicente Bokalic presiding after processions from designated gathering points.
  • At the Vatican, Santa Maria Maggiore’s Holy Door was closed on December 25 in a rite led by Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, and Pope León XIV is scheduled to close St. Peter’s on Epiphany.
