Digital Veteran Card Passes 23,000 Downloads

Ministers are using Remembrance Sunday to boost sign-ups so veterans can carry proof of service on their phones to access discounts or health services

Overview

  • The government said on Saturday that more than 23,000 digital Veteran Cards have been downloaded since the scheme launched in October 2025.
  • Veterans must first apply for a physical Veteran Card and wait for it to be processed and dispatched before they can request the digital version through the GOV.UK One Login app.
  • The digital card is designed to let veterans show proof of military service on their phones to claim discounts at participating shops, restaurants and attractions and to confirm status for GP registration or specialist health support.
  • The digital option is optional and does not replace the physical card, with acceptance of discounts and recognition varying between retailers, services and attractions so veterans are advised to check before they travel.
  • Ministers including Stephanie Peacock and Veterans Minister Calvin Bailey have stepped up promotion around Remembrance Sunday to raise awareness and encourage more veterans to sign up, which could increase take-up of benefits and simplify access to services for former service personnel.
