Digital Extremes Unveils Soulframe’s Dark Warsongs and Warframe’s Tau System at TennoCon

The announcements push both games toward grimmer narratives while adding mounts, minigames, and limited access windows that expand player engagement plans.

Overview

  • Digital Extremes announced Warsongs for Soulframe as a fall Fable that adds the Vadagar Pact, a corruption-based progression path that lets players wield Ichor to throw exploding boomerangs, summon ensnaring tendrils, and call corrosive steeds.
  • The studio opened a limited signup window to grant permanent access to Soulframe: Preludes to anyone who created an account by Sunday, July 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • A new boss called the Mendicant Reinbreaker is live in Preludes now and can be defeated to free its mounted steed, which the developer says players may be able to befriend in future updates.
  • Soulframe will add mounts and a fishing mini-game to Preludes later this year, and TennoCon revealed cast additions including Ben Starr as antagonist Tempest Bayor and Jennifer English as the Empress of Eldveil.
  • Warframe’s big reveal was Tau, a new star system arriving later this year that centers on the noir ring-city Fornax, introduces a detective-style Warframe Brysko voiced by Matthew Mercer, and adds the Portau card minigame while exploring addiction through the Bloom substance.
