Diesel Spill Forces Full Closure on A6 Toward Mannheim After Multi-Vehicle Crash

Police say a failed overtake by a minibus near Dielheim set off collisions involving a Porsche plus two lorries.

Overview

  • The crash occurred around 09:45 between the Sinsheim and Wiesloch/Rauenberg junctions, shutting all lanes toward Mannheim.
  • The minibus clipped a Porsche, then veered into the lorry it sought to pass, bursting a tyre and tearing off the truck’s rear bumper.
  • The detached bumper hit a second articulated lorry, rupturing its diesel tank and spreading fuel across all three lanes.
  • The at-fault driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital; other drivers were unhurt; a precautionary rescue helicopter was not required.
  • As of 13:23 CET, recovery and diesel cleanup kept the carriageway closed with queues up to about 10 km and damage estimated at roughly €80,000.
