Dieseko and CorPower Launch VibroDrive+ to Optimize UMACK Anchors for Offshore Renewables

The Eurostars-backed project pairs vibrohammer installation with UMACK upgrades to reduce installation impacts and drive down costs.

Overview

  • Dieseko Group and CorPower Ocean announced the VibroDrive+ consortium with €400,000 in Eureka Eurostars funding.
  • Controlled installation trials and static and cyclic load testing will be conducted at Fraunhofer IWES in Hannover.
  • Testing is slated to start on 1 December, with outlets differing on whether the start year is 2025 or 2026.
  • Integrating vibratory hammers aims to shorten installation time, cut underwater noise, and improve performance predictability across varied seabeds.
  • UMACK was installed in 2021 at Aguçadoura using a Dieseko 500MU, with CorPower citing >20 MN uplift capacity at ~35 t and 3–5× the holding of traditional pile anchors.
