Overview

  • Police say Sanchez fired a handgun from the passenger seat of a Jeep Gladiator as it passed a crash scene on Interstate 40 before officers pulled over the vehicle on July 18.
  • Court records charge him with a fourth-degree felony for shooting at or from a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor count of negligent use of a deadly weapon.
  • During a search of the Jeep, officers recovered three rounds on the passenger side and found the weapon tucked behind the driver’s seat.
  • Sanchez has denied discharging the firearm, but the driver—who faces no charges—told investigators Sanchez fired the shot and laughed afterward.
  • His bail has not been set ahead of a forthcoming court appearance, and his representative says renewed rehab efforts are underway to address his substance struggles.
