Dick Vitale to Return to ESPN Broadcast Booth After Fourth Cancer Recovery

The 85-year-old Hall of Fame broadcaster will call the Duke-Wake Forest game on January 25, marking his first assignment in nearly two years.

Dick Vitale, a legendary ESPN college basketball analyst, will return to broadcasting on January 25 for the Duke-Wake Forest game after battling four different types of cancer since 2021.
Vitale, 85, underwent five vocal cord surgeries, 65 radiation treatments, and six months of chemotherapy during his most recent battle with cancer in 2024.
The upcoming broadcast will be Vitale's first since April 2023, when he called the national championship game between San Diego State and UConn for ESPN's international audience.
Vitale has been a prominent figure in college basketball broadcasting since joining ESPN in 1979 and was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 2024.
Known for his energetic style and iconic catchphrases, Vitale expressed gratitude for the support from fans and colleagues during his health struggles and hopes to bring renewed excitement to the game.
