Overview

• On Oct. 5, Van Dyke and his wife, Arlene Silver, hosted the Vandy High Tea at their Malibu home, Vandy Manor.
• He led “Happy Birthday” for a 6-year-old fan named Tristian, who traveled from Connecticut, and performed songs from Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang plus The Dick Van Dyke Show theme.
• The event raised money for The Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and a Dick Van Dyke Museum that remains in development.
• Observers said he appeared sharp and feeling good, a welcome sign after illness prompted him to cancel a June Vandy Camp appearance.
• He joked about reaching 100 on Dec. 13 and has kept up workouts, including a September gym sighting shared by musician Rick Springfield.
