Diamondbacks Activate RHP Ryne Nelson, Recall OF Alek Thomas

Nelson returns from shoulder inflammation as Arizona fights for a wild-card spot.

Ryne Nelson, who has been on the injured list since September 11 due to shoulder inflammation, is back in the Diamondbacks' rotation.
Nelson has had a strong second half of the season, posting a 3.39 ERA and striking out over 27% of batters since the All-Star Break.
Alek Thomas, who was sidelined by an injury shortly after being optioned to Triple-A in August, has also been recalled to add speed and defense to the outfield.
The Diamondbacks have optioned pitchers Yilber Diaz and Blake Walston to Triple-A Reno to make room for Nelson and Thomas.
Arizona currently holds the final wild-card spot, with crucial games against the Padres this weekend determining their playoff fate.
