Diablo 4 Season 11 Overhauls Loot, Combat and Endgame, PTR Starts Oct. 21

Blizzard set PTR testing for October 21 ahead of a December 9 launch to vet sweeping loot, combat, and progression changes.

Overview

  • Tempering becomes deterministic with one chosen tempered affix per item as non-Unique drops move to four base affixes, and Masterworking now raises overall item quality to level 20 with a rerollable Capstone bonus.
  • Sanctification adds a final, risky upgrade that can grant effects like a bonus legendary power or a greater affix and then locks the item from further modification.
  • Defensive systems are rebuilt with armor and resistances as rating-based stats with diminishing returns, a new Toughness readout, potions that heal 35% and recharge over time, and Fortify acting as a drainable extra-life pool.
  • Seasonal progression is reworked as Season Rank, which replaces Renown on the Seasonal realm, while Renown remains on Eternal and Altars of Lilith no longer grant permanent stats in season play.
  • Endgame difficulty rises with less predictable monsters, more than 20 new affixes and elite-spawned affix-sharing minions, the return of leaderboards via The Tower beta, and Azmodan appearing as a new world boss.
