DHS Terminates Family Reunification Parole for Seven Countries, Sets Jan. 14, 2026 End Date

Citing security risks from insufficient vetting, the agency returns parole to case-by-case reviews.

Overview

  • The termination covers nationals of Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Honduras, along with their immediate family members.
  • Parole granted under the family reunification programs will end on Jan. 14, 2026 unless the individual has a Form I-485 that was postmarked or e-filed by Dec. 15, 2025 and remains pending on Jan. 14, 2026.
  • For those with a qualifying pending I-485, parole continues until the parole period expires or USCIS issues a final decision, and denial will end parole and require immediate departure.
  • DHS will notify affected individuals and will revoke employment authorization tied to terminated FRP-based parole.
  • A Federal Register notice outlines implementation, and DHS directs departures through the CBP Home app with available incentives including an exit bonus, financial and travel document assistance, and forgiveness of civil fines.
