Overview

• At 26 Federal Plaza on Tuesday, masked agents grabbed and shoved journalists during an arrest, injuring Anadolu photojournalist L. Vural Elibol, who was taken out on a stretcher.
• Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said agents were swarmed by agitators and press obstructing operations and asserted officers repeatedly ordered people to move back.
• The journalists were identified as amNewYork’s Dean Moses, freelancer Olga Fedorova and Elibol, drawing condemnation from Gov. Kathy Hochul and other Democrats, with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries urging DHS to identify those involved.
• In Chicago, DHS confirmed 37 detentions in a large South Shore apartment raid as additional arrests were reported across the city on Wednesday, and NBC Chicago reported at least two U.S. citizens were temporarily detained.
• DHS announced more than 800 arrests in Illinois since Sept. 8 under Operation Midway Blitz, while NIJC filed a court motion alleging an unlawful family detention at Millennium Park and potential violations of the Castañón Nava settlement.
