Dharmander Aggarwal Arrested at Haridwar Ashram After Evasion in ₹95 Lakh Land Scam

He had been living under a false identity at a Haridwar ashram where he portrayed himself as a philanthropist.

Accused Dharmander Aggarwal was presenting himself as a philanthropist in order to escape detection.

Overview

  • Aggarwal allegedly duped Delhi resident Balesh Jain of ₹95 lakh in a 2015 Pratap Vihar land sale by falsely claiming plot ownership.
  • Despite executing a sale agreement in May 2016, he failed to transfer the property by December 2019 and later demanded an additional ₹40 lakh in July 2022, prompting a 2023 FIR for criminal breach of trust and cheating.
  • After ignoring repeated investigation notices, he was declared a proclaimed offender on July 15, 2025 under IPC Section 82 of the CrPC.
  • On July 16, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch traced him to Bairagi Camp in Haridwar and arrested him at an ashram where he lived under a new philanthropic persona.
  • Following his arrest he was booked under IPC sections 406 and 420 and admitted to evading law enforcement by frequently changing his appearance, mobile numbers and addresses.
