Overview

• On July 19, DGzRS received a distress call from a wife whose husband collapsed unconscious aboard their ten-meter sailboat off Spiekeroog.
• The vessel had drifted into shallows and run aground, obstructing access for rescue boats.
• Rescuers winched a paramedic directly onto the sailboat, lifting a doctor with equipment onto a nearby rescue boat.
• After initial treatment, the crew steered back into deeper water to allow the doctor to board directly from the rescue boat, securing the patient for transport.
• The sailboat reached Wangerooge around 20:00 under tow, followed by an ambulance transfer to the island airport, concluding with an airlift to a mainland hospital.
