Overview
- The four-day operation runs from 15:00 on July 31 to midnight on August 3 and aims to cover about 6.9 million journeys at the start of August and 52.9 million throughout the month.
- Peak congestion is forecast for Thursday afternoon and evening between 16:00 and 23:00 as thousands travel from major cities to coastal and second-home areas.
- Key traffic measures include reversible and additional lanes, suspension of roadworks, alternative itineraries and restrictions on vehicles carrying dangerous goods or special loads.
- The DGT has deployed its full human and technical resources—Traffic Guard agents, traffic centre staff, helicopter patrols, fixed and mobile radars, drones, cameras and unmarked vans—for enforcement and monitoring.
- The operation is linked to the first phase of Operación Paso del Estrecho-2025 to handle Portuguese and Maghreb traffic and follows a safety push after 111 road fatalities since July 1.
