Overview

  • DGCA inspections from May 29 to June 2 at Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru uncovered improper marshalling, unauthorised maintenance and undeclared dangerous goods on Turkish Airlines flights.
  • Inspectors found a Bengaluru marshaller lacked authorisation and a valid competency card, technicians performed aircraft arrival checks without a certified engineer and explosives were loaded without DGCA clearance.
  • Turkish Airlines operated at Hyderabad and Bengaluru without formal service-level agreements, leaving ground support equipment untracked and handled by Globe Ground India after Celebi’s security clearance was revoked.
  • The regulator has directed Turkish Airlines to rectify all identified lapses and scheduled follow-up ramp inspections to ensure sustained compliance with ICAO standards and DGCA regulations.
  • IndiGo received a final three-month extension to operate Turkish Airlines’ wet-leased Boeing 777s and must terminate the lease by August 31, 2025.
