- India’s aviation regulator granted Navi Mumbai International Airport its Aerodrome Licence after safety and operational checks, formally authorising public use.
- DGCA chief Faiz Ahmed Kidwai handed the licence to Adani Airports CEO Arun Bansal in New Delhi, marking regulatory completion ahead of the launch.
- Adani Group Chairperson Gautam Adani said the airport will be inaugurated on Oct. 8, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to preside during his Mumbai visit.
- Initial operations are being lined up by multiple carriers, including Air India Express with 20 daily departures at launch, alongside commitments from IndiGo and Akasa Air.
- The greenfield hub opens in phase one with capacity for 20 million passengers and 0.5 MMT of cargo, scaling to 90 million passengers and 3.2 MMT at full build-out as a twin-airport partner to Mumbai’s CSMIA.
