DGCA Grants IndiGo Six-Month Extension to Operate Turkish-Leased 777s Through Feb. 28, 2026

The watchdog set conditions nudging a shift to dry leases under ongoing security scrutiny of Turkish-linked providers.

Overview

  • Approval allows two Turkish Airlines Boeing 777s to keep operating for IndiGo under a wet/damp lease until February 28, 2026.
  • The extension requires IndiGo to consider moving these or other aircraft to dry lease and to operate them on its own AOC.
  • IndiGo said the decision preserves operational stability and keeps nonstop links to Istanbul during the peak travel period.
  • The leased widebodies currently serve DelhiIstanbul and MumbaiIstanbul, with options after the extension to use IndiGo’s own jets or other compliant wet/damp leases.
  • The move follows BCAS’s May revocation of security clearance for Turkish ground-handler Celebi in India, which intensified scrutiny of Turkey-related aviation ties.
