Overview

  • Following the June 12 crash in Ahmedabad, DGCA teams conducted intensive night and early morning inspections at hubs including Delhi and Mumbai, exposing failures in aircraft maintenance and ground operations.
  • Inspectors uncovered recurring technical defects on aircraft, unserviceable baggage trolleys and ramp vehicles lacking speed governors, and improperly secured life vests.
  • Auditors found runway centreline markings faded and obstruction limitation data at some airports outdated by three years despite nearby new constructions.
  • Under the new audit framework, airlines and airport operators must implement all corrective actions within seven days or face further enforcement.
  • In a recent order, the DGCA removed three Air India officials from crew scheduling duties for breaches of flight crew licensing, rest and recency requirements.
