Overview
- The DFB has approved licenses for all 14 Women’s Bundesliga clubs and for Erzgebirge Aue, Energie Cottbus and Hansa Rostock in the 3rd Liga for the 2025/26 season.
- The Women’s Bundesliga grows from 12 to 14 teams with promoted Union Berlin, Hamburger SV and 1. FC Nürnberg joining and only Turbine Potsdam facing relegation.
- All 20 sport-qualified 3rd Liga sides passed the federation’s financial and organizational checks, with the full match schedule due in early July before an August 1 opener.
- The expanded Women’s Bundesliga season kicks off on September 6 with league champions Bayern Munich hosting Bayer Leverkusen after the Supercup on August 30.
- The 2nd Women’s Bundesliga will begin on August 23–24 featuring newly promoted VfR Warbeyen, FSV Mainz 05, VfB Stuttgart and Viktoria Berlin.
