Devils Sign Rooney, Glendening and Two Goalies to Professional Tryouts

Camp performances will determine who earns contracts for 2025–26.

Overview

  • General manager Tom Fitzgerald announced PTOs for forwards Kevin Rooney and Luke Glendening and goaltenders Georgi Romanov and Adam Scheel.
  • All four report to training camp on Sept. 17, creating competition for bottom-six forward roles and a third-string goalie slot behind Nico Daws and Jakub Malek.
  • Rooney, 32, returns as a former Devil with 330 NHL games and 60 points after time with the Rangers and Flames.
  • Glendening, 36, brings 864 NHL games and 166 points following long stints with the Red Wings, Stars and Lightning.
  • Romanov has 10 NHL appearances with an .888 save percentage, while Scheel, 26, posted a 10-2-2 record and 2.62 GAA last season with the AHL Colorado Eagles.
