Devils Sign Dawson Mercer to 3-Year, $12M Contract Extension

The 22-year-old center remains with New Jersey after agreeing to a deal that ensures team control through 2027.

Dawson Mercer, a restricted free agent, has signed a three-year extension with the New Jersey Devils worth $12 million.
Mercer, selected 18th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, has played all 82 games in each of his three NHL seasons.
He is coming off a down season with career lows in assists (13) and points (33), yet still managed to score 20 goals.
The deal, which carries a $4 million cap hit, allows the Devils to maintain a full 23-man roster without additional cap maneuvers.
Mercer is expected to play a consistent top-six role this season, potentially alongside Jack Hughes and Timo Meier.
