Tom Fitzgerald, the general manager of the New Jersey Devils, has been signed to a multiyear contract extension and promoted to president of hockey operations.
Fitzgerald took over as interim general manager in January 2020 and was given the full-time role that summer.
Under Fitzgerald's leadership, the Devils have become one of the most improved teams in the NHL, reaching the playoffs and advancing to the second round last season.
Fitzgerald has been credited with building a young, powerful, and dynamic team through signings, trades, and draft picks.
The Devils currently sit tied for fourth in the Metropolitan Division with 51 points.
